The multi-faceted George Menezes was a renowned author, columnist, diplomat and an eminent Catholic leader. The Mass was concelebrated by Bishop Percival Fernandes and six other priests. His son Christophe paid glowing tributes to his father that brought tears to the congregation. His friend Rev Cardinal Oswald Gracias, who is in Rome, made his presence felt by his letter which was read by Percival extolling his great contribution to the Catholic church. Also seen in the congregation was his cousin the super cop and ex ambassador of Romania Julio Ribeiro, Dr Luzito D’Souza, Gerson da Cunha, Dr Armida Fernandes, Dr Rui Fernandes, Darryl D’Monte, Lenny Menezes, Joseph St Anne, Cezar and Mimi Menezes who came all the way from Goa. It was touching to hear renowned violinist Ernest Menezes of Aldona finally playing the haunting tune ‘Adeus Korchea Velar’.
